Cupid's Chase

The annual Cupid's Chase run/walk is sponsored by Georgetown Parks and Recreation. It is held on a USA Track & Field Certified course and begins at 8:30 a.m.

The serious runner can appreciate the challenge of the course which is certified through USA Track & Field and consists of crushed granite and cement paths. The route is well marked and you will be able to pace your time by watching for our trail markers that delineate quarter and tenths of a mile along the way.

Our fun-run and walking enthusiasts also get the most of their time by following this course through our beautiful San Gabriel Park. A large gaggle of geese and ducks gather to cheer on our participants as a large portion of the trail follows the course of the San Gabriel River.

Overall Male & Female will receive a prize and a trophy. Each age division will receive a trophy for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

The City of Georgetown's San Gabriel River Trail was designated a National Recreation Trail by the U.S. Department of the Interior in 2006.  Visit these links if you would like more information about our award-winning Hike and Bike Trails and Parks facilities.

This year Cupid's Chase is on Saturday, February 9,2008 and will be a 6K run/walk race following the hike and bike trail. The starting line and finish will be at Rivery Park, which is located just north of Rivery Boulevard. (See map below)

Register online starting on January 1st.

**If you wish to register online and you do not have an already-established online account with Parks & Recreation, you MUST register by 5:00pm January 30, 2008 in order for your account to be set up in the system (two-day turnaround for account set up) to qualify you for the early registration price.**

Registration for 2008 before February 1st: 13 & up is $15; Senior Adults 55+ $10; Children 12 & under $10. February 2nd - 8th: the cost is $20 per person. Race Day, February 9th: $25 per person.

Directions from the Austin Area: Take I-35 north and exit 261A. Stay in the far left lane on the feeder road. Take the turn around at Williams Dr. and head back south on the feeder. When you see Wendy's, move into the farthest right lane and take a right at the Wendy's onto Rivery Blvd. The second driveway on the right past Wendy's will be the entrance to the start area.
